Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 operating system was leaked on Thursday, June 17th. The leak shows among other things the complete user interface. The look was first seen in screenshots posted on Chinese site Baidu. The interface and start menu in Windows 11 are similar to their original version in Windows 10X.
The start menu is a simplified version of Windows 10, without Live Tiles. It includes quick shutdown and restart, dark mode view, pinned apps, and recent files. App icons are placed along the taskbar, the status bar area has been cleaned up, and a new start button has been added in the current version.
Windows 11 also has rounded corners that can be seen in context menus, and around applications and File Explorer. Microsoft may also bring back Windows widgets, as shown in its first release, to provide quick access to news, weather, and more. There is also a sound in the new operating system that plays on every boot.
The upcoming offering features new pop-up controls to allow access from the maximize button on all apps as modern equivalents of the veteran waterfall Windows operating system feature. You can close the windows side by side or organize them in sections on your desktop.
Microsoft is reportedly renovating its Windows app store to allow developers to submit any Windows application including browsers like Chrome, Firefox or even third-party commerce platforms in the applications to avoid the reduction of in-app purchasing systems.
Microsoft will also integrate the Xbox app in Windows 11 to provide quick access to Xbox Game Pass games, social games on the Xbox network. The Xbox Game Bar and Windows Game Mode will remain the same as Windows 10 in this first leaked configuration, the report added.
The tech giant reportedly recently worked on a new app store for Windows, suggesting a big change from the existing setup. CEO Satya Nadella has pledged to “open up greater economic opportunities for developers and creators” with Windows in a new store.
The new operating system is still in the works and there has been no word from Microsoft to clarify the information in the leak.
The company will host a special Windows event to unveil its upcoming operating system on June 24. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET. The invitation to the event includes a window creating a shadow with an apparent outline of the number 11.
This is just the beginning. Tune in on June 24 at 11 a.m.ET to see the rest. #MicrosoftEvent https://t.co/DM7SYVdc3j
