  • I'm not a car guy but this looks like a horrible idea. For starters, disconnect the battery before spraying stuff on it. Second, cover the alternator and belts. My take? This is insane and will screw up your car.

  • Thank you for filming your experiment and publishing the result. I like the idea of using the tire foam on rubber parts. The blower is always a good idea to get the water and loose dirt away. A little hot water steamer (not a water jet) would help, but your idea was to clean without water, thats ok. Would recommend chrisfix'es vids for some additional ideas. But i share your route of using as little water as you can for cleaning the engine.

  • Spraying the battery like that is not a good ideal. The spray/foam could act as a conductor and short the battery. Possibility of it overheating and exploding. Yes i know batteries get wet. But water just runs off. Foam builds up. Get the layer to thick and it can become the connection between the positive and negative terminals. Just something to keep in mind and pay attention too.

  • I like the idea but at least clean with a moist rag first to take most of loose dirt ,then do the armor all just to finish ... armor all does not really clean or is not a de greaser , it just makes it shine dirt or no dirt !...let`s just hope now that it is not a dirt magnet ! but thanks for the video !

  • I do this same thing. I spray the engine once, wait five minutes and spray the engine again. Then I use my leaf blower on high to blow away the excess foam and then wipe off any residue with a microfiber towel. Great video and thanks for sharing.

Maybe 2:1 would be better for very dirty engines. But 3:1 sure cleaned It up a lot. I'ma clean It one more time before I put It up for sale In a month or 2

  • On older vehicles before computers You can put plastic wrap around your distributor and carburetor openings than use a degreaser like simple green and pressure wash it off But on new vehicles you can't use water at all unless you want problems with shorting sensors coroding connectors or computers You might get away with it in short term but your asking for problems I'd rather use tire foam and rag

  • Thanks for the video...I have been using purple power degreaser,, scrubbing with a brush,, rinsing with my pressure washer,, drying with an air compressor, and applying gunk engine dressing for about 4 years on multiple vehicles with no problems and great results. I always cover my alternator and avoid power washing electrical boxes and connectors. Modern engines are very water resistant, but I was taught to be extra careful with spraying alternators.. Nice video, and well done, but I'm saving my tire foam tires!

  • Yeah there's no shortcuts when it comes to doing it right lot of products collect dust. A piece of foil wrap them around all your electrical connections plastic bag over distributor and alternator, fuse box, warm engine helps too much power washing can remove paint blow crap everywhere just like if you were using on your house. So Prep properly you know how to strip your paint off keep your distance can get you in more trouble than good if you're not careful more isn't better :-) good luck. Warm up your engine when you start softens up stubborn material failure to cover your electrical connections, property your car will run like s*** Miss , Idol, horribly, only takes about 15 minutes to do it properly well worth it secure it don't forget your hood liner again not too hard with your thrust can blow your skin off your hand so don't overdo it high pressure hose works just as well with a jet tip little fire nozzle just a section at a time as you go having a warm engine also helps to start it and evaporate any moisture should it penetrate Electronics if it does run idle rough you're not a hurry opening up to let the sun warm it up are hair dryer works good to take the wife's hair dryer out and working on your connections. Like any job majority of the job is preparation well worth it then have fun spraying you can do the undercarriage of the vehicle as well it takes at least four cans 6 bucks you two cans for sure for the engine go with the quality brand pay more is better than that stuff. PS I used an old king size blanket I drove up on and I saw water at all the crap Grease oil excetera drop down, the blanket caught it all the debris, and only the water after going through fabric like a filter drained up the sides like a, filter blanket work excellent two thumbs up where has a tarp everything just keeps running off of it down the driveway good luck like I said little preparation goes a long ways so you don't end up with such a mess it wont piss the wifey off:- keep it o green
